"Someone who really understands ..... my point of view"

“I have been running my bistro just off the high street and had 'made do' with a bookkeeper for quite a few years; we seemed to jog along quite well. However, it was when I realised that there was a competitor sniffing around a vacant site that I began to be concerned at how my finances were structured - I was worried that I wasn't making full use of all the allowances and tax advantages open to me. Basically, was I legally getting the most out of the business that I was entitled to?
I spoke to my independent financial adviser, who recommended me to the local AIMS Accountant. I have to say that I am very happy with the service I have received and with the knowledge that the professional advice is provided by someone who really understands things from my point of view."

A fair way of doing business"

“Being a self-employed builder is not easy these days, especially as there is still this cowboy image to live down. I'm a church going man who does an honest days work, but the forms are beyond me and I was worried that I would make a mistake. The developer I was subcontracted to put me in touch with his accountant - I was happy that he worked out the cost for me on only the work I needed, not a huge rate for his time. "My AIMS Accountant comes to me - this is great. I own a garage and I'm a hands-on owner. If one of the mechanics doesn't turn up, I'll put my overalls on and lend a hand where needed. Of course, I get dirty and obviously I have to be here to keep an eye on things. I hated having to put on my suit and get scrubbed up to see my accountant - I felt like a bloody schoolchild. Anyway, he comes to see me, when it's convenient for me - he just gives me a call, and pops over. He doesn't even charge me for the call. Great."
